Volunteering opportunities

Digitally Connected Knaresborough is a community group dedicated to helping people build confidence with everyday technology. We run a free, monthly drop‑in clinic where anyone can bring their digital questions or tech problems to one of our Digital Champions.

 

Sessions take place at Gracious Street Methodist Church on the 3rd Monday of most months, from 1pm to 3pm.

Each clinic begins with a short themed briefing — previous topics have included scam and fraud awareness, useful everyday apps, and a deep dive into Facebook.

 

We’re now looking for ad‑hoc Digital Champions to support these sessions, and occasionally to help with tailored digital support for local charities, community groups, and residential homes. You don’t need to be a tech expert — if you’re comfortable with everyday technology and enjoy helping others, this flexible voluntary role could be ideal.

 

There’s no expectation to attend every month; even occasional support makes a real difference.

 

Digitally Connected Knaresborough is delivered in partnership with Knaresborough Connectors, Gracious Street Methodist Church, and a brilliant small team of volunteers. We’d love you to join us in helping local residents feel confident and connected in a digital world.

Knaresborough Connectors has a sister website — Knaresborough Community — which shares details of local amenities, community groups, things to do and upcoming events.

 

We’re looking for volunteers to help ensure that key local events are listed, with a particular focus on free activities and those organised by not‑for‑profit groups.

 

This role involves spotting events happening in HG5, checking whether they’re already listed on the events page, and adding new ones via a simple online form. Most details are easy to find, but you’ll also write a short event summary and an eye for detail really matters.

We ask for a commitment of around an hour a week, though any amount of help is genuinely appreciated.

On the first Monday of every month a group of over 65s meet up at The Gracious Street Methodist Church in the centre of Knaresborough for tea, cake and a natter. Alongside the monthly meet‑ups, there are occasional extra activities, including trips out and a festive Christmas gathering.

We’re looking for volunteers to help host these sessions. If you’re friendly, patient and enjoy chatting with people, you’ll be a great fit. The role includes welcoming attendees, helping serve refreshments, supporting conversations and contributing to a warm, relaxed atmosphere.

A commitment of around three hours each month is desirable, but any amount of help is genuinely appreciated.
